    The Strider Family ADVENTure Calendar

    They say it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but for parents, it can be hard to embrace that sentiment. The holiday season is more analogous with a mounting to-do list. There are so many parties, activities, shopping, elf moving, decorating, cooking, school functions, magic-making, and wrapping that makes this “wonderful time” straight-up exhausting. And, at the same time, most parents treasure this time, especially when our children are young. Even the smallest of gestures to be present with your children goes a long way!

    Whether it’s on a bike or around a board game, we know being together with the people you love is part of what makes us happy and healthy. We created our Strider Family ADVENTure Calendar to encourage families to take a moment out of their busy day to intentionally be together. Each day of the calendar gives a family activity. We kept it simple. You will need very little supplies or planning. Most activities are short and can take as little as 5 minutes. We know it won’t be perfect. It won’t always go smoothly. Heck, it might not always even be fun (who ACTUALLY enjoys playing games with a toddler??). But, it will definitely be worth it. Sit down with your family, show them the calendar, and explain that over the next twenty-four days you will countdown to Christmas by doing something a little special together. Who knows, maybe it really will feel like a wonderful time again (at least parts of it)! We’d love to see you together with your family.

      Cut out each day and fold in half with the number on front and activity on the back.

    • 3.

      Cut 24 pieces of string at all different lengths. Put a dot of glue (or use a glue stick) inside each number at the top. Put the end of the string on the glue and close the number. This will glue the string inside.

      Use a hanger or a dowel and tie each day to it. Hang it somewhere everyone will see it.

      Gather a long piece of twine and clothespins.

    • 4.

      Hang the twine across a wall and use the clothespins to hang each day in order.
